Travel lightly

DIY livin...

I got a cup of peruvian blend medium roast coffee at about 7pm, filled up the tank with 87 proof and hit 95 north heading towards the Mason Dixon line for a 400 some odd mile trip through the Heart of the nations capitol, through Maryland, past Gettysburg, and into the hills of Pennsylvania!

I drove roughly 375 miles into the mountains, and into the rainy abyss of the northeastern autumn night, through fog, maybe even some clouds in the higher elevation, when the coffee finally wore off…

Pulling off interstate 81 at a lively midnight truck stop, I noticed a dozen or so parked RV’s, Idling 18 wheelers, and some parked cars, I figured it was a reasonable enough place to get some shut eye, and finish the drive in the morning…

I woke up half way early, in the back of my van, under a make shift tent out of a blanket, and inside my sleeping bag. It was probably 40 degrees, raining and gloomy. A bathroom bird bath, some coffee, and some hashbrowns would fuel the rest of the drive, but true inspiration, was the motorcycle parked outside when I was leaving… Like I said It was cold, and wet, and generally not ideal weather for moto travel, and this thing had a container of laundry detergent bungied to it, and a trailer with what looked like a portable camp and more. Mobile tactical DIY living quarters…. Pretty cool.

Convenience, and comfort versus freedom and character.. what a trip this dude must be on.
